Catalonia Atocha, Madrid
Catalonia Atocha
Catalonia Atocha Hotel is located in the centre of Madrid, near Paseo del Prado and Atocha Railway Station, and only a short distance from the main museums and tourist attractions of the capital. The hotel was inaugurated in 2011 and has a fantastic solarium and terrace with heated seasonal Jacuzzi and wonderful views of the city. Set in an area with great commercial and leisure activity, the hotel also has free wireless Internet access, a café and snack bar and a restaurant for conventions and events. The building dates from the beginning of the 20th century and forms part of the Historic Villa de Madrid (Town of Madrid) and was built in the developed area of the city, after the demolition of the wall delimiting the city boundaries in the reign of Felipe IV. Built in the Neo-classic style, its façade is now one of the most spectacular and most frequently photographed sites in the famous calle Atocha and, by extension, the well-known Barrio de Las Letras, birthplace of many well-known Spanish Golden Age writers. In contrast to the classical design of its façade, the hotel has an avant-garde, modern and cosy interior and the latest in hotel technology: led lighting, an integrated intelligent air conditioning and heating system which is proof of the commitment of Hotel Catalonia Atocha to a sustainable future.
